Where to start? Perhaps by introducing myself, I’m Corlys Velaryon, son of Corwyn Velaryon and Alyhnae Velaryon, I’m the firstborn, having two younger brothers. As if being the firstborn was not enough pressure, I was named after my great-granduncle who was considered one of the best Navy Admiral. From a young age, I spent my time hearing stories about his travels, and his career, and growing up in Driftmark I guess it came as no surprise that I ended up following in my namesake's footsteps.But the navy and sea while my passion I do have others, my family. I am a family man, I have always been protective of my brothers even when my youngest does not deserve such protection, close to my family but I never expected to have a family of my own. After all, who would want a husband that spent most of his time in the sea and traveling?Maybe the stars were on my side when I met Rhaenys Targaryen, our families had been doing business together, as the Targaryens are the closest thing to royalty and my family owns the Royal Navy. Cheeky woman with no filter apart from being completely stunning, witty, and definitely stubborn. The kind of woman that could have any man that she desired. Did I expect to have any luck? No! But thankfully destiny had other plans and from the moment we started talking there was just something there.By Rhaenys' side, I found my place. A new passion not just for the woman itself but also for the family that we ended up having, I can say that I am the proud father of Laena and Laenor and already a grandfather.Work still pulls me away most of the time and the time away is not exactly the best, I miss my family, and I missed important moments in my children’s lives and while I know they understand I wished I could have been there. But one cannot turn back time so now I try to make it up by being there for my children and grandchildren. The salt of the sea runs in my veins but no one will ever take the place of my family in my heart. Even my younger siblings have a place there and yes even Vaemond who tends to be the cause of my many headaches.Would I change my life? NoBut some things I would certainly do differently.
